He then indicated that 70% of the top 100 free apps had no problem with working over IPv6 and provided these pointers for “What Breaks?”: He explained that to help in testing, Internet Sharing will now have a “Create NAT64 Network” option:Īnd provided a picture of how it all works: He then talked about how Apple will use DNS64 and NAT64 to provide connectivity to the IPv4 Internet: First, Prabhakar talked about the need for IPv6 support and pointed out the growth in IPv6 traffic on North American mobile networks (and we’re seeing similar stats at the World IPv6 Launch measurements). To give you a view of some of the main points, here are some key screenshots. The IPv6 section was presented by Prabhakar Lakhera, a “Core OS Networking Engineer” at Apple, and runs for about the first 14 minutes of the video.

#WWDC 2015 VIDEO HOW TO#
WWDC was eye opening, informative, and totally worth attending.Want more info about Apple’s new requirement for IPv6 support in iOS 9 applications? At last week’s WWDC on Friday, June 12, 2015, the session “ Your App and Next Generation Networks” covered the topic of IPv6 as well as latency and how to improve the speed of your apps. I really enjoyed the seminars and learned so many new features, and some I didn’t know existed. Īfter 5 days, I was amazed on how well the content was presented and organized. ( )įor a complete listing of all available videos, check out. Other updates that I noted that everyone should check into are: guard statements, availability checks based on iOS version, protocol design pattern and error handling which improves stability and reliability. Biggest thing is SWIFT is now OPEN SOURCE! This will allow the language to grow with a larger community of developers.
Also new is picture in picture, so the iPad can show a video floating above the other applications. You will be able to open 2 applications on the iPad and your laptop. Multitasking – Available on iOS and OSX.Search is getting smarter, and the cool new thing is that Apple has opened up APIs to allow your applications to index data, so it can also show up in search results ( ).If you have some more time to deep dive into the new functionality with iOS 9 and Watch OS 2, then let me highlight a few of my favorite must see sessions : If you only have a couple of hours to catch up on the latest and greater from Apple, check out the keynote for an overview of what is new and exciting with iOS 9, OSX 10 and Apple Watch 2.0. There were so many sessions that it was hard to narrow down. There were approximately 5000 attendees, and 100 different developer seminars to attend. You could feel the energy in the air when I lined up to enter the keynote where tons of developers came from all over the world to hear what innovations Apple had in store for them. Out of 6 developers from my team who applied to go, I was the only one lucky enough to get the golden ticket.
